Choices and Moving Meditation

Alas, I find the time to write my first blog. Set up for a few months now, I've been guilty of getting caught up in the day to day, the 'busy' work. Something we are all capable of, and between clients, family, friends and a little bit of 'me' time some things have fallen through the cracks. It is time to make time. Prioritize. Make different choices. We all do, choosing the things we deem most important at any given moment. We make choices many times throughout the day it is one of the blessings of a modern world. Sometimes it is important to recognize when it is time to make DIFFERENT choices. When old ones no longer serve us. So today I choose to write.

What else do I choose to do? Exercise. I always will. I make time in my day for it, schedule it. A part of my routine for a number of reasons, and linked to why I've landed in the fitness biz. The type and intensity may vary depending on my goals, mood and stress levels, but it is consistent. One of my motivators is I am one of the strange ones that REALLY enjoys it. I love moving my body in as many ways as possible, I like the way my body FEELS during movement. My mind lets go, and all of the thoughts and lists of things that i have to do forgotten for that half hour or hour just for me. No programs to do, no kids to pick up, just me and perhaps a good tune or two... I can be truly free, open to the possibilities that life offers.

I am often inspired by the clarity that comes through in these moments. The white space within me open to ideas and inspiration. Some use meditation, and yes, i attempt this as well, but to be frank, it has never come easy to me and my patience runs thin quickly. I admire those able to practice regularly, and recognize its importance. Stillness. Some credit meditation as the key to their youth, the stillness allowing the body to regenerate ( why am i thinking about star trek and science fiction here?) Anyhow, I digress. What I am trying to articulate is the importance of white space in your life, CHOOSE to create it in a way that works for you. A time to be with you, removed from the obligations of your day. To allow clarity to find you. If it is meditation and stillness, Great! If you are like me (restless and impatient) perhaps you can find moving meditation to work for you. A run (or walk) in nature, listening to the sounds around you. Lifting weights, focusing on your breathing and the connection with your muscles and physical body. Playing a sport, lost in the moment. Wherever you find it, pay attention to how you feel afterwards. Have you succeeded in creating clarity and space? Do you feel happy with your choice to exercise? If the answer is no, i have some insight into why this might be, but will save it for another time...

Yay me! My first post down. Thanks for reading and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and inspiration

best,
dayna

Well put, Dayna! White Space. Clean, Crisp, Space! Interesting how we use it. We create our lives through space. IT allows one to start from scratch, and put whatever you wish on it. You Create your thoughts, your ideas and you have to inspire yourself to fill the white space. There’s no before and no after. It’s just White! Just space. And from within the stillness, meditation comes the clarity. That what finds you.

There’s an interesting picture I had come across some time back when in Paris. It was a picture of Picasso in an empty old room with white window light coming through. A Horizontal. At one end of this white space that was taken in Black & White was Picasso on the far left, in his boxers, socks up to his knees as I recall, the room empty but it had a feeling of being full, a purpose, a magical feeling, and at the far right two business men in suits all done up waiting, and waiting patiently, looking intently at the master creator who was on the phone, an old phone, a black phone with a black cable, the kind that felt solid in your hand, with expressions that were priceless that described they were here for the master or perhaps they were there to fill the space. The picture spoke a thousand words but perhaps more importantly the thousand words of the life we create, what we create, how we create which is all in our own hands only if we always remember that the White Space is always there as a point to start from at any time. Of course the clarity of mind helps the process.
